Functional Neurosurgery

Jean Quint Oropilla, MD, FAFN
Dr. Jean Quint Oropilla is Head of the Functional Neurosurgery section in the Neurosurgery department of Makati Medical Center. He received his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and his Medical Degree at the University of the Philippine. He completed his Neurosurgery residency training at the Makati Medical Center where he served as chief resident, and completed a clinical and research fellowship in Functional Neurosurgery at Foothills Hospital, the University of Calgary in Canada. He has been on the Makati Medical faculty since 2006. He became a diplomate of the Philippine Board of Neurological Surgeons in 2006, and a Fellow of the Academy of Filipino Neurosurgeons in 2008.
Dr. Oropilla’s clinical and research focus is on neuromodulation and neuroablation. He has performed or is involved with over half of all deep brain stimulation patients in the Philippines in surgery or programming. He is co-author of Central procedures for cervical dystonia, a chapter in the Textbook of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, and co-author and participant in many movement disorder studies.
